Presented by the Asbury Park Music Foundation in partnership with The Levitt AMP Music Series, WimBash Asbury Park visited the legendary music city on the Jersey Shore on July 4, 2016.

In 2011, the Smithsonian Institution selected Asbury Park as the first host city of its traveling musical heritage exhibit, “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music.” This event, marked the launch of a yearlong celebration of Asbury Park’s musical heritage. The Asbury Park Music Foundation mission is to preserve, exhibit and promote the City of Asbury Park’s rich musical heritage – past, present and future.

The Asbury Park Music Foundation, a nonprofit that celebrates Asbury Park’s rich musical heritage and fuels revitalization by promoting Asbury Park as a musical destination, was one of fifteen organizations to receive a grant of $25,000 to produce their own Levitt AMP Music Series—an outdoor, free concert series featuring a diverse lineup of professional musicians.

The Levitt AMP Asbury Park Music Series is supported in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, a private family foundation that empowers towns and cities across America to transform neglected public spaces into thriving destinations through the power of free, live music. In 2016, more than 450 free Levitt concerts will take place in 21 towns and cities, all featuring a rich array of music genres and high caliber talent. Within this region is the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks in Bethlehem, Pa. with concerts taking place this May through September.
The Levitt AMP Asbury Park Music Series will inject new life into Springwood Park—the only public park on the City’s underserved West side—giving all Asbury Park residents in this seaside community a welcoming place to gather and celebrate their city’s rich musical history.
