WimBash Hartford 2013 featured musical guests Living Colour, The Sugar Hill Gang – Wonder Mike & Master Gee, the Original Sugar Hill House Band (Doug Wimbish, Skip McDonald, & Keith Leblanc),Rahiem (The Furious Five), Grandmaster Caz (Cold Crush Brothers), Henn-Dogg & Unlocking The Truth.
Continuing Doug’s & the WimBash alliance with the School of Rock, The School of Rock Westchester House Band, to the absolute delight of all families and fans, had the opportunity to share the stage with internationally acclaimed artists. During the day, the WimBash performers presented a series of music clinics to the students.
The 2013 edition of WimBash>>Hartford was the kick-off event of the Connecticut Music Month, followed by the presentation of the Grand Band Slam Awards and a month long celebration of Connecticut’s home grown music bands across the state. The 2013 Connecticut Music Awards “Best Hip Hop” Finalists Camacho, KLOKWIZE and Joey Batts & Them were recognized at the event.

The event was standing room only – with the room at capacity, those unable to squeeze indoors found themselves listening and dancing on the outdoor deck.
A WimBash pre-party, held the night before, featured a screening of the documentary “I Want my Name Back” – the story of Wonder Mike & Master Gee.
The DREAM Project’s Director of Development, Jon Wunderlich, made a special appearance. Through Stuart Spector’s generous gift of a bass guitar, Doug proudly donated the bass on behalf of Stuart and the WimBash Music Series to the Jon for the DREAM Project. That Spector bass became the FIRST bass guitar in the DREAM Music Program classroom. WimBash is proud to partner with The DREAM Project in it’s mission to provide quality and sustainable education programs for children and youth in the Dominican Republic that can be replicated throughout impoverished global communities.
And finally, legendary mix engineer/ producer, Chris Lord-Alge, whom Doug has known since the pair’s Sugar Hill Records days, surprised Doug as a special birthday gift. Those familiar with hip hop history will know Chris as an engineer on many of the Sugar Hill Classics!
