Having met DJ Markie Gee in the eighties and re-introduced to Markie in 1995, the pair formed a lifelong friendship, sharing their passion for music. Markie Gee had a collection of all of Doug’s released recordings, including rarities. After the untimely passing of Doug’s long time friend and WimBash ally in March of 2017, Doug wanted to pay homage to the legacy of his dear friend by hosting several WimBash events honoring the late Mark Greenland, aka DJ Markie Gee.
On Thanksgiving weekend 2017, Doug gathered together Connecticut friends and family at the location of the first WimBash event, Sully’s Pub, with performances by Doug, Jaeme Starchild and a special DJ set by DJ Mike the Hitman Ingrassia, giving thanks and love to the memory of Mark.
West Haven Mayor Ed O’Brien presented Mark’s life partner, Michele Sensale, a posthumous proclamation honoring DJ Markie Gee’s contributions to the arts.
